GS Enterprises was founded in January of 1999. Greg Smith started the company in the basement of his home in Lenexa, KS. On his first day in business, Mr. Smith personally instilled the lasting mark of the company: going the extra mile for the customer to provide uncommon service.

Whether handling fresh produce, frozen loads or dry goods, Mr. Smith ensured that each load was handled with care and attention. By personally talking to and dispatching each driver, Mr. Smith proved to be a reliable provider for customers. The word quickly spread and the business soon outgrew the basement.

It was not long before Mr. Smith recognized that an asset-based truck line was essential to ensuring that the service that he was committed to would consistently be delivered.  Greg founded Smith Transportation in June,2003.

Smith Transportation is now co-located with GS Enterprises, in Kansas City, KS.  The fleet continues to expand with quality drivers, reliable equipment and new refrigerated trailers.   Smith’s vision of a truck line that provides exceptional customer service has only expanded. Today, Smith Transportation supports many of the country’s most well known perishable brands and products.
